Where has the time gone?

The school year is flying by and we have been busy at work before our Winter Break begins! The students have been working hard in all subject areas and having fun in the process (here's hoping!).
It was a pleasure seeing the parents at the conferences in November. The children always enjoy sharing their learning with their parents. In December, along with our regular routines, themes and units we have been focusing on how we can spread kindness. In class, the students have written notes to the fire department/nursing home/children in the hospital. They have given letters to staff members in our school, delivered sharpened pencils to students in another classroom, and even wrote compliments to their classmates. Some have brought hearts home in their agendas to continue the kindness at home. Last weekend, the students were asked to do an act of kindness and to share at school on Monday what they had done. Here is our list of acts of kindness...
Poppy made a present for a friend.
Bree made a cookie for Mme Chapdelaine.
Ashlynn, R.J. and Easton passed the puck to a friend in hockey.
Drew gave money to his parents.
Miguel and Kane gave lots of hugs.
Jayden bought a present for his mom for her birthday.
Bailey gave people compliments.
Jan cleaned up her bedroom and her mom's bedroom.
Madysen made someone smile.
Bebe bought Emma a present.
Myah drew a picture for her dad.
Justin took care of his sister.
Finn visited his grandpa in the hospital.
Emma said thank-you for all the presents she got at her birthday.
Joseph made a light sabre for his brother.
Kaiden played with Madysen and gave her some "girl things".

It was really nice to hear the students share their random acts of kindness. We will be continuing to spread kindness this week and next. Maybe your child will come home and clean up their toys or do something kind for a sibling or family member?

Our Design Process

We created Angry Bird Structures following the given criteria. You will get to see them and take them home at Conference time.

Our visit from QX104

The QX104 team came to deliver our Wendy's lunch. The students were thrilled to see the Cash Cow.
Thanks again to Ashlynn and her mom for nominating me for

What's New?

The students really enjoyed our first swimming lesson last Thursday. Most can't wait for the next lesson!
